Dr. Mariana Fernandez, Prosthodontist
Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Dr. Mariana Fernandez comes from a family deeply rooted in healthcare, as both her parents are cardiologists. From a young age, she was inspired by their dedication to serving others. At just 16, she began working as a dental assistant in her aunt’s practice, where her interest in dentistry quickly evolved into a passion.
Dr. Fernandez earned her dental degree from Universidad Santa Maria and worked in a private practice as a general dentist. During this time, she also volunteered with nonprofit organizations and provided care to underserved populations, including patients with special needs and remote indigenous communities.
After relocating to the U.S. due to Venezuela’s economic crisis, she pursued advanced dental education at the University of Connecticut’s John Dempsey Hospital. It was there she met her husband, Dr. Ramos, a prosthodontist who encouraged her to specialize. This led her to the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she completed a three-year residency in Prosthodontics and earned a master's degree in dental sciences.
Dr. Fernandez later worked at an implant center, gaining hands-on experience in full-mouth rehabilitation, implant dentistry, and cosmetic restorations. Driven by a commitment to comprehensive, high-quality care, she opened her own practice to integrate her training and experience under one roof.
She has also completed two dental esthetic programs in Venezuela and is an active member of the following professional organizations:
- American Dental Association
- Florida Dental Association
- American College of Prosthodontics
- American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics
- Academy of Osseointegration
- Florida Prosthodontic Association
- Dental Society of Greater Orlando
Outside the office, Dr. Fernandez enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog, Vito, taking advantage of Florida’s sunshine, traveling, exploring new restaurants, and visiting family across the state.
